Monty, Bonnie and- Oh Good, another Springtrap (FNAF SB PT.2)

Today, we continue our series where we try to figure out some of the lingering questions we have after the release of Steel Wool Studios’ new game, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach. This time, we’ll be covering the mystery of Glamrock Bonnie, whether Monty is responsible, and how this connects to the game’s final boss, Burntrap.

We know that there are four main glamrock animatronics present in the Mega Pizzaplex during the game- Freddy Fazbear, Glamrock Chica, Roxanne Wolf, and Montgomery Gator. But there are a few moments in the game where a fifth member of the band is mentioned, that being Bonnie. It was strange from the beginning, when we found out that Bonnie the bunny, one of the most iconic and pivotal characters to the FNAF story, wouldn’t be showing up in this game, but it is confirmed by Freddy himself that a Glamrock Bonnie animatronic existed at some point. Along with that, (incoming stupid pun) there is one scene in particular that tells us this rabbit hole (there it is) goes a lot deeper than it first seemed.

Entrance to the Bonnie Bowl area

One of the many attractions at the Pizzaplex is Bonnie Bowl, a luminous, eighties-themed bowling ally featuring the purple rabbit himself. When Freddy, our guide through pretty much the whole game, goes by this area, he says something that suggested Bonnie wasn’t just retired as a character: “I do not come up here anymore. I miss him.

This suggests that Freddy and Bonnie were good friends, and he mourns for him as if he actually died. Now that technically can’t happen because Bonnie is a robot, but considering how advanced the AI in these animatronics in this game are, to the point where they all have individual personalities, it certainly seems real enough, at least to Freddy.

But what happened to Bonnie? Why would he be exempt from the Pizzaplex? Well, an interesting feature in the game is that on our FazWatch, we can look at reports gong around Fazbear Entertainment’s communication systems. These range from customer complaints, to briefings, and in this case, a missing animatronic report. It says that at some point, Bonnie left his green room and went into Gator Golf, which is Monty’s solo attraction.

I don’t think this is a farfetched theory, because there’s more than one type of motivation Monty could’ve had when doing this. The first one is jealousy, and wanting to have the spotlight on him. Again, the animatronics here are advanced enough to have their own genuine and complex emotions, and Monty seems to be the angriest.

So it seems that Monty wasn’t originally part of the main band, but was a side attraction, sort of like Foxy’s place in Pirate Cove in FNAF 1, and eventually replaced Bonnie. Because of this report, many people, including myself, have been led to believe the worst: Monty killed Bonnie.

I think Monty wanted to take Freddy’s spot as the leader of the band, thinking he could do better. This is proven by his state at the beginning of the game, where Freddy glitches and ruins the performance, and inside Monty’s room, behind large barricades, he is clearly angry about it, trashing his room and destroying everything. We also see props in the playable Gator Golf minigame where Monty is in the center of the band, with Freddy on the sidelines. But the Pizzaplex would never get rid of Freddy, so Monty had to take down the next best candidate, Bonnie, and take his role as the bassist.

The other possibility is that Monty killed Bonnie under the influence of Glitchtrap. We know that the animatronics try to kill the player, Gregory, because of Glitchtrap’s influence. Obviously, his goal in this game is to have a physical form once again, which he succeeds at in the game’s true ending, where he comes back into his original body as William Afton, or as he has been dubbed now, Burntrap.

Taking a look at Burntrap’s design, we can learn a lot that supports this theory. Burntrap resides in the old Freddy Fazbear’s location that the Pizzaplex is built on top of. Judging by the style of the front entrance, and the stage inside the building, it’s safe to say this is the same location from FNAF 6- where William Afton was burned inside his springlock suit. So this suit Burntrap dons here is actually the Scraptrap outer shell. But that suit has been lit on fire twice and left to rot for over thirty years at this point, so Afton needed some upgrades. So while he had the Glamrocks under his control, he set Monty, the strongest and most aggressive, out to fetch the endoskeleton of the animatronic that fit his rabbit trademark, Bonnie. We can clearly see that Burntrap has a Glamrock endoskeleton, based on the larger size as well as the details mainly on the right arm. There are also bolts and pieces of metal holding the back of his torso together, work likely done by Vanny, to keep the piece meant for a smaller animatronic held on.

So to recap, Monty totally killed Bonnie. whether it was to take his place in the Glamrock band, or if he was influenced by Afton, it is clear that he is responsible, and it led to Bonnie’s robot equivalent to a corpse being used to keep Purple Guy’s promise to always come back.

I may be completely wrong. Again, this is FNAF we’re talking about, so there’s probably a curveball waiting to be thrown at me somewhere in the source code. I’d like to hear YOUR theories in the comments. With that said, I’ll see you all soon!
